With my Body
This fall, Gowen Gallery is delighted to present With my Body, a group exhibition centered on a deliberate artistic choice: each of the five international artists featured in the exhibition uses their own body as a means of representation and personal exploration.
While this approach is consistent with a logic of self-representation, the works go far beyond the conventional notion of self-portraiture by addressing personal, political, and emotional narratives with depth and complexity.
Using a wide range of techniques, from painting to photography and sculpture, the exhibition brings together works by Bruno Gadenne, Ayana V. Jackson, Roméo Mivekannin, Sophie Ryder, and Marta Zgierska.
