TAL COAT
A collection of picture books
On the occasion of this exhibition dedicated to Pierre Tal Coat, L’Exemplaire seeks to highlight an essential yet sometimes lesser-known aspect of his work: his intimate dialogue with the book.
Bringing together around forty illustrated works, this presentation reflects the richness and diversity of his editorial collaborations. Pierre Tal Coat worked alongside major figures in publishing such as Éditions Maeght, Pierre Lecuire, Pierre André Benoit, as well as Françoise Simecek.
He also collaborated with leading authors including André du Bouchet, Jacques Chessex, Maurice Blanchot, and Jean Grenier.
These encounters fostered intense artistic and intellectual exchanges, resulting in works in which text and image engage in a dialogue of remarkable depth and precision.
In addition to these books, the exhibition also presents a selection of original works spanning the different periods of the artist’s career.
