Holy Land
The Galerie Grand-Rue is presenting an exceptional collection of lithographs by David Roberts (1796-1864) from the series entitled The Holy Land, Syria, Idumea, Arabia, in the luxurious subscriber’s edition. These magnificent views of the artist’s travels through the Holy Land between February and May 1839 were lithographed by Louis Haghe (1806-1885) between 1841 and 1849 and highlighted with watercolour and gouache by Roberts himself and mounted on cardboard. The series shows beautiful landscapes of Petra, Mount Sinaï, Saint Catherine’s Convent, Jerusalem, Baalbek and Lebanon.
