REGARDS
wildlife photography by Denis ASCH

For its new exhibition "Regards", Galerie Patrick Gutknecht is delighted to present twenty-seven photographs by Denis Asch (the majority previously unpublished), the fruit of several trips to South Africa and Kenya. These photographs will interact with selected decorative arts pieces from the 1920s to the 1970s.

Denis Asch was born in Alsace in 1969. A watchmaker and wildlife photographer, an atypical yet complementary combination, these two passions have always driven Denis Asch. Patience, perseverance and the quest for technical challenge are as much a part of his watchmaking as his wildlife photography. He also makes childhood dreams come true on safari, and photography enables him to record a memory and relive the emotion of the moment. In the bush, the animals leave the photographer very little time to capture the moment, and it's this reactivity and the chance to be in the right place at the right time that makes wildlife photography so exhilarating. We're in their home, and we have to respect their environment, their territory. Photographing wild animals is therefore the culmination of a game of chase and a search involving the acuity of all the senses. Therein lies the technical challenge.
