Rediscovery
Abstraction 1950-1960

Under the sign of “Rediscovery”, Interart’s new exhibition invites you to discover some lesser-known figures of post-war art. From the vast abstract art movement, some 20 works will invoke a number of aspects of this trend that developed in the 1950s and 1960s.

Four painters of the Paris School feature in the exhibition: Calmettes, Cortot, Rezvani and Tabuchi, illustrating their preoccupation with the harmony of shapes and colours, the balance of their compositions and their search for the limits of abstract art.

Another trend is evoked with Bradley and Trökes and their work evolving around symbolism, their attraction to the subconscious and the “childish spirit”.

An abstract masterpiece by Georges will illustrate the rupture with academic culture of a number of artists, while a work by Hidai will conjure up the new paths of exploration around oriental calligraphy.

Finally, painting will interact with sculpture, Feraud and Spilliaert will also be honoured in a play of harmonious and startling contrasts.
