Hans Schärer's erotic watercolours were all created at the same time as his famous Madonnas, for which the artist was famous in the early 1970s.
As Jean-Christophe Ammann wrote in his introduction to the book Le Corps Hanté, "Hans Schärer was a wonderfully gifted watercolourist and colourist. The extreme care with which these leaves are executed gives credibility to his visionary strength."
Hans Schärer's erotic watercolors were exhibited in their entirety in 2014 at the Museum of Art in Aarau and in 2015 at the Swiss Institute in New York.
