Librairie L'Exemplaire

From Paul Jouve to Marc Chagall
some beautiful Swiss editions of the XXth century

Our next exhibition will be devoted to Swiss illustrated books of the XXth century. A chronological journey that begins in 1934 with a unique copy of André Demaison's book "Le livre des bêtes qu’on appelle sauvages" illustrated by Paul Jouve, enhanced by a Jouve’s original gouache and final page proof annotated by the author. Numerous editions by Pierre and Philippe Gonin, Henry-Louis Mermod and Pierre Cailler will be exhibited, and ultimately we will present the very scarce complete album entitled "Six engravings on linoleum" by Marc Chagall, published by Gérald Cramer in 1984.
