Francky Boy was part of a group of artists refusing intellectualism and academic art that Ben designated, on the occasion of an exhibition he organized in Nice in 1981, the Figuration Libre.
Unlike the painters of Figuration Narrative, the artists of Figuration Libre do not seek to express a critical view of the society of their time, nor to formulate social or political claims. They paint free and colorful figures in a mixture of writings from pop, African art, comics or art brut.
At the turn of the 21st century, Francky Boy, tormented by the situation of the planet, felt the need to share his ecological concerns and his fears about the future. He moved away from the Group and began to stage the aberrations of our daily life through works with tender humor, always so lush, teeming with multiple details in pure and frank colors, perfect antidotes to the ambient gloom.
