FAVOURITE PAINTINGS
Our latest acquisitions

Do we really have a favourite painting? That is quite impossible. Still, gathered here are our favourite paintings for the year 2020.  The mandatory pause after TEFAF in Maastricht allowed us to concentrate on the most exciting part of our business: the quest for works that we are pleased to present today in our gallery in Geneva.

What strikes us, what touches us, what emotions generate an intimacy with the work? While the painting may not speak, it never fails to put us in a waiting position.  And silence sets in as we contemplate the Bouquet de fleurs dans un Roemer by Ambrosius Bosschaert The Elder.  No matter that it is not in season, and if the blooming of all of these flowers proves chronologically contrived. It is the taste of the artist that bunches the buds together, and the sole purpose of the choice of colors is harmony.

A recent discovery, this exquisite work on panel joins the fine body of eight works by this pioneering artist, produced between 1619 and 1621.  From the Louvre to Boston via the Mauritshuis or Los Angeles, this remarkably preserved example will sit grandly among our favourite paintings.
