Nineteenth-century French paintings at MAH

With De bleu, de blanc, de rouge. Les peintures françaises du XIXe siècle du MAH, the result of a program to promote French paintings of the 19th century (1800-1918), undertaken in 2020 in collaboration with the University of Geneva.

The exhibition highlights the evolution of artistic taste and techniques during this period of great change.

Highlights include pieces such as La mort de Socrate by François-Xavier Fabre and Vue d'Auvers avec champ de blé by Vincent van Gogh. The exhibition covers all aspects of a heritage project, from the creation of the collection to research questions and the study of the painter's craft.
