As if to resist a certain violence conveyed by the media, the Zougois artist creates an imaginary universe with the aim of showing harmony in everything. His artificial and composed images tell of a fantastic world, close to a dream, while taking reality as a backdrop.
Štrba's images are imbued with a fascination for the representation of being, meeting, perception and exploration of each other.
Annelies Strba's work, which is represented in numerous photographic collections around the world, has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Kunsthaus Zug, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Tate Gallery in Liverpool, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie in Paris and, in 2003, at the Helmhaus in Zurich.
