Galerie Schifferli

Paintings and works on paper from the 1950s and 1960s

For the 24th edition of Art en Vieille Ville (AVV), the Schifferli gallery proposes an exhibition of works on paper dedicated to non-figurative paintings from the 1950s and 1960s.

From a mixed techniques approach, using gouache, charcoal and Indian ink by Hans Hartung (1904-1989), to Indian ink enhanced by black and white gouache in a large-format work from the “Foules” series by Antonio Saura (1930-1998), continuing with a charcoal drawing by Geer van Velde (1898-1977) and an Indian ink wash by his brother Bram van Velde (1895-1981), the gallery presents in all a collection of 18 works signed Tal Coat (1905-1985), Henri Michaux (1899-1984), Zao Wou-Ki (1920-2013), Gérard Schneider (1896-1986) among others.

The show is a unique opportunity to discover an artistic movement born at the end of the 1940s – that of lyrical abstraction – arduously defended by Michel Tapié.
