Serge Poliakoff
Plastic Poems

Harmonies of colours, vibrating materials, assemblage of defined but elusive shapes… This autumn Interart gallery pays tribute to Serge Poliakoff (1900-1969) with an exhibition of a selection of works dating back to the greatest period of his carrier, between 1952 and 1959.

Poliakoff’s paintings, virtuous even though seemingly simple, peaceful despite the complexity of their composition, reveal to the public an outstanding pictorial beauty composed by an intense palette, lavish materials and secret harmonies.

Devoted explorer of shapes and surfaces of the Abstract movement early stage, Poliakoff has created a unique work that fascinates us and, at the same time, disintegrates our aesthetic habits to guide us into his artistic world.

Poliakoff took part to all the post-war abstractionist art events and, as of 1947, he was supported by Denise René. Awarded the Kandinsky Prize, Poliakoff is one of the foremost artists of the Seconde École de Paris.
